So the race is on. Not to downplay the tragedy of Steve Irwin’s (The Crocodile Hunter) death, but when will the video of the deadly incident first make it’s appearance?
John Stainton, Irwin’s manager was part of the crew shooting Irwin with the stingray and he says he’s watched the videotape. “It shows that Steve came over the top of the ray and the tail came up and spiked him here (in the chest) and he pulled it out and the next minute he was gone.”
That videotape, however difficult to watch, will be broadcast. You can bet on it. But will the video be shown on Animal Planet or it’s parent company The Discovery Channel? Or will the owners of the video decide to sell to one of the big 4 broadcast networks? Or put it on DVD for purchase?
I’ll be surprised if the video surfaces on broadcast prior to the November sweeps period.
But I think the bigger question is whether bloggers get hold of the video and put it on YouTube or Google Video and scoop the big broadcasts.
Anyone care to guess?
