Better than Internet Radio

It’s the Music Genome Project. A buddy and co-worker showed me the website last week. Wow.

The folks behind the project listened to more than 10,000 artists, both popular and obscure. They analyzed the style and qualities of each song one at a time. Then they created the coolest music website I’ve seen.

Simply enter the name of an artist or song and they’ll create your very own “station” with songs similar to the one you chose. For starters, I entered Van Morrison. First they played “You Don’t Pull No Punches” by Morrison. It was followed by “Same Old Story” by Stevie Wonder, “Lullaby” by Loudon Wainwright, then “Don’t Let it Bring You Down” from Neil Young.

They save the stations you created so you can keep your preferences. Each time you log on you get different songs for the same station. And it’s free.

Here’s the address:

Enjoy. I know I am.
